About the band:
Through the course of writing, refining and recording their debut full-length album, “Another One Gained,” Katy Guillen & The Drive delved into the catharsis of a bittersweet moment in time. Recorded with Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket, Heartless Bastards) at Invisible Creature Studio in Los Angeles, the 10-track effort was met with high praise upon its 2022 release. Accompanied by drummer Stephanie Williams’ melodically exacting rhythms, Guillen’s emotive guitar playing aligns with her lyrics to meet at the crossroads of suffering and silver linings. Uncut Magazine says “Guillen & The Drive hit the sweet spot with a mix of spiky garage rock and soulful country torch songs.” The past year has seen the duo through countless club shows and festivals (Summerfest, Boulevardia, Mile of Music) across the country, as well as Nashville writing sessions, laying the groundwork for their next album, and working on a very special, brand new release for this summer. This rooftop show will feature new original music and the band’s signature, magnetic live performance.
Special guest and Kansas City vocalist Julia Haile will open the show! With her powerful, soulful and dynamic instrument, Haile has stood out for her honey-coated tone, passion, and stage presence. Over the years, her various projects have landed her on stages opening for the likes of The Suffers, Emily King, and Adia Victoria.
This will be a wonderful evening on the beautiful Percheron Rooftop celebrating Kansas City music!
