About the speaker:
Billy Brimblecom, Jr. was born in Kansas City, Missouri and was drawn to the performing arts at a young age. He is an alum of KC’s Comedy Sportz improv comedy troupe and a professional drummer. Brimblecom studied music at The University of Kansas and has performed on stage and on screen in venues including The Kennedy Center and Wembley Arena. In 2005, Billy was diagnosed with a type of cancer in his left ankle called Ewing’s Sarcoma which required 13 rounds of chemotherapy and resulted in a left leg amputation right above the knee. Coping with the loss of his leg, a whole new perspective on life emerged. Within months of his surgery, Billy was back on tour playing drums. In 2009 Billy and his wife, Allison, moved to Nashville, and in 2013 he became the executive director of Steps of Faith Foundation — a 501c3 helping uninsured amputees receive prosthetic limbs. In 2016, he moved the non-profit to Kansas City and a year after that created Thundergong!, a benefit concert variety show that is pretty darn great. In his free time, Billy still finds many opportunities to play live music, because he can. Billy currently lives in Lenexa, KS with his wife and 2 children.
