GONE NOT FOREVER – Exhibition Opening Celebration at Crossroads Hotel Gallery | November 15th, 7-9pm
Kansas City-based artist Hadley Clark, merges visual art and fashion, holding degrees from the University of Kansas and The New School Parsons Paris. Clark’s approach to fashion-free from seasonal constraints, outsourced labor, and textile waste more closely resembles an artist’s methods. Working at her own pace, Clark blends her skills as a painter, designer, and sculptor, crafting garments driven by the demands of each piece.
Since 2015, Clark has centered her practice on using textile remnants and deadstock fabric. Her garments, composed of salvaged, artfully collaged scraps, are both functional pieces and art objects, embodying the duality of life and decay.
Her school, initially operated from her studio, now reaches broader audiences through the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and the Kansas City Art Institute. Currently, she is a resident at Studios Inc. and once worked as a hotel housekeeper in her early twenties.
Hadley Clark: Gone Not Forever is curated by Tiffany Meesha Thompson, EMBA, Executive Director of Petrichor Projects.
